Wali is a Canadian sniper who has a reputation for being an excellent shot, and when it emerged he had traveled to Ukraine to take part in the war with Russiahe immediately made a difference.
Russia gleefully claimed that Wali had been killed by Russian attackswhilst Ukrainians disputed the information, however a media appearance from the Canadian has now confirmed that he isn’t dead.
“I was at the front without a phone, I was the last person to find out about my own death,” Wali admitted in an interview with Cuatro.
“When I went back and checked my phone, I saw that they were claiming I was dead, I told everyone it wasn’t true.
“The Russians leave their weapons and even abandon their dead, that has happened in my area, I would be much more afraid to face Canadian or American armies than Russians, they’re good but they’re not that smart. They make a lot of mistakes.”
Despite talks of peace talks getting closer, the war in Ukraine continues with civilian deaths still rather high, and there is little evidence to suggest that the conflict is near an end.
