UK Athletics: We will root out coaches who should not be operating in our sport | Sports

Coaches operating in athletics with a restricted license, or serving a limited suspension, could now be banned for life as part of a clampdown on sexual misconduct in the sport.

UK Athletics (UKA) has announced that it will re-examine historical cases to decide if further sanctions are needed, with the intention of publicly announcing that a coach has received an increased or permanent ban from the sport if so. In the past such decisions have not always been published.

In May, UKA took the unprecedented step of ordering a QC-led review into historical safeguarding and misconduct cases to see whether appropriate measures had been taken against coaches found to be involved in sexual activity with adults at risk, or in the

continued grooming of children.
