In 2015, Bentley had these five Mulsanne Grand Limousines hand-assembled by Mulliner. They were put together in painstaking detail and shipped to their new owner in the United Arab Emirates. However, for the next six years the cars were never driven, registered, or used in any way. Bentley has now repossessed the five rarities and plans to sell them to new owners. Who buys something like this and then never uses it?

To create the Mulsanne Grand Sedan, Mulliner work bespoke bodywork and chassis to add 39.37 inches in length to the powerful sedan and raise the roof 3.11 inches to really accentuate the headroom and legroom of the rear seats. All of this additional space has been designed so that four adults can sit comfortably, “inspired by luxury aviation”. There are two rear-facing passenger seats so people in the rear seats can sit face to face during their journeys. Of course there is a champagne cooler with crystal flutes and a whiskey cabinet with crystal goblets. Why shouldn’t there be?

Obviously, these giants are powered by the smoothest and most luxurious 6 3/4 liter engine, producing a whopping 505 horsepower and 752 lb-ft of torque. This is clearly for people who need to get to a place conveniently and FAST!

Some of the limo-specific things Muliner added include a multi-zone HVAC to keep each driver in a comfortable microclimate, the front-to-rear intercom system with an electrochromic, dimmable smart glass partition. Each car has unique 21-inch wheels that are color-coordinated to match the exterior palate of each machine.

Speaking of color palettes: each of these five machines is equipped in five different color combinations. The example shown here is Silver Frost over the Moroccan blue exterior color, paired with an Imperial Blue and Linen interior that is completed by Burr Walnut veneer. The remaining four are not shown, but you have to use your imagination.

  • Damson over Black Crystal finish, complemented by Damson and Twine leather and Dark Stained Burr Walnut veneer
  • Onyx over Candy Red on the outside, Hotspur and Camel on the inside with Olive Ash veneer
  • Rubino Red over Light Gazelle body with an interior of Fireglow and Twine leather paired with Burr Walnut veneer
  • A monochrome exterior in Black Sapphire with an interior in Imperial Blue and Camel contrasted with Dark Stained Burr Walnut veneer

If I had my choice, I would certainly prefer the Onyx to the Candy Red sedan. Sounds nice and elegant. Just like me.

Bentley didn’t price these bespoke luxury gems, but considering the now-discontinued Mulsanne had an MSRP of around $ 311,000 last year, it’ll likely be an expensive proposition. On the other hand, one could argue that these are assets that have been depreciated and that they should be sold for far less than 2015, even though they have never been used. When new, I’d bet these were half a million each. Perhaps Bentley would have you pool all five for a new two million.

After all, you need something comfortable with lots of suspension to soak up the bumps as you plow through a ton of proles.
