Apparently, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is traveling backwards … according to Aerosmith legend Steven Tyler.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith has been in Disney’s Hollywood Studios since 1999 and is still considered one of the most popular Disney attractions to this day. The journey almost always has a queue of 60 minutes or more and leaves you wanting more. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is the most intense roller coaster Walt Disney World has to offer as it is the only roller coaster that has loops and starts with a starting gun that accelerates up to 60 mph almost instantly.

Attraction guests visit Aerosmith during their recording session, but then there is an unexpected twist and all visitors are taken to a back alley to get into a super stretch limo to go to the Aerosmith concert with their backstage passes be able. The ride can be quite intense, but it seems like Steven Tyler is remembering it a little more intensely than it actually is.
During a conversation with comedian, UFC commentator and Fear Factor host Joe Rogan, Steven Tyler discovered that the journey was going in reverse. The conversation took place on The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan’s incredibly popular podcast. Tyler starts talking about his Disney roller coaster at 5:20 a.m. when he begins to explain the facts about the roller coaster. When Rogan asks if it’s going backwards, Tyler says it is. Of course we know that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith doesn’t go backwards, but it does have loops. Perhaps Steven Tyler was referring to the wrong sections of the ride when he said it was going backwards! Tyler is a huge fan of the coaster as we can see in the video below where he checked out the coaster! If you want a reverse ride at Disney, Expedition Everest will quench your thirst for reverse travel!
The idea of the roller coaster getting a re-issue is a hot topic among Disney fans. While some love the Aerosmith soundtrack that roars while driving, others are ready to see a new theme for the ride as the band isn’t as relevant now as it was when the ride was created.
At Disneyland Paris, we saw their version of the attraction shut down in favor of an Iron Man roller coaster to replace it for the park’s Avengers campus. At Disney World, due to contract rights with Universal Orlando Resort, we won’t be able to see the roller coaster get the same treatment, but now Universal Music Group appears to have a new contract that could stand in the way of the attraction.

Disney had to sign a licensing deal with the band to develop the ride, a deal that is rumored to be expiring shortly. While nothing has been said yet, the gift shop at the end of the attraction is out of Aerosmith merchandise and the contract may have expired. Once the contract ends, Disney would either have to terminate a contract with Universal Music Group to keep the band’s themed attraction. Since Universal Music Group is a separate entity from Universal Orlando Resort, this would have to be its own separate deal.
The official description is:
