Sports enthusiasts who “got fat” during the lockdown are starting a new business to keep the nation more active

A sports enthusiast who admits he “got fat” during the lockdown started his own business to encourage more people to get up and get active.

Lee Hannigan, a self-employed utility salesman, founded All About Sport to promote and promote all sports.

The father of two says the company has three specific goals: promoting and organizing local sporting events and competitions, portraying celebrities and sports stars from a variety of disciplines, and hosting award shows to give people the opportunity to buy sporting goods for a fraction the cost.

Lee said, “I got pretty fat during the lockdown, I got lazy, I didn’t exercise, and I just got into some really bad habits.

“I wanted to do something about it, so I started looking online for the sporting challenges that were out there and that’s where the idea for All About Sport was born.

“I’ve always wanted to have a career in sports because I absolutely love it, but I have heart disease and I don’t play as much as I used to. So I decided to forge my own career by starting a company. “

The 41-year-old who lives in Stoke-on-Trent added: “I’ve been self-employed for three years now. It went great but then lockdown took off so in November I decided to put some new business ideas together.

“I’ve wanted to start my own business since I was a kid and I think it was fear that scared me off, but Lockdown helped and I decided to just do it.”

Within weeks of starting the company, Lee has already partnered with the British Heart Foundation, Movember, Alice Charity and local clubs to promote their upcoming sporting events.

He has also published interviews with Stoke City legend Lou Macari and MMA champion Ross Pointon.

Now Lee wants to forge relationships with even more sports stars and local clubs to promote the sport and grow his brand.

He said, “I started this business with my credit card money so it’s a very passionate project but it’s what I want to do and I’m working hard to grow it.

“At the moment we only see what works and what doesn’t, but I have a lot of ideas, for example we want to organize our own events next year and I want to start a podcast.”

Over the next 12 months, Lee, who is still in utility sales, plans to grow the business and create new jobs.

He added, “I have experience running businesses but never my own. So it was a learning curve, but I loved the process of creating something that was mine.

“At the moment I work from home, but I would like to get an office someday.

“In the next two years I hope to be in a position where I have a full team that gives me more time to get into the community, interview sports stars, promote local clubs and just encourage people to do it to take action. “
