Michael Winslow made a name for himself as a voice instrumentalist with his uncanny ability to imitate sound effects, but he proved during his audition for America’s Got Talent that you can’t fake a heart.
“I used to be the 10,000 sound effects man, but now we’re down to hundreds of thousands,” said the 62-year-old, who played as Larvell Jones throughout the Police Academy franchise, as he introduced himself.
“I ended up doing pretty well, but stopped making films because I left the business for my kids,” Winslow later explained. “I had to raise her because I was widowed. But now, having raised my two children, I’m in a different phase. I think this is my time and America’s Got Talent is the place for me to show off to everyone that I still am. ” have something to offer. “
AGT host Terry Crews called Winslow “a legend,” and when the comedic actor took the stage, Judges Howie Mandel and Simon Cowell recognized him immediately. Mandel smiled and pointed to him confidently. “We know you!” Simon Cowell gaped, then later added, “I can’t tell you how excited I am to have you here.”
Winslow then began a stand-up routine about how he grew up by making noises, including a litany of airplane and radio-based noises that made the jury laugh before they gave him a standing ovation.
