Electric cars have enjoyed growing popularity across Europe in recent years. In 2020, electric vehicles accounted for 10.5% of all new vehicle registrations in the European Union, compared to just 3% in the previous year.
Switcher.ie has researched the cost of electricity across Europe and found out how much you would pay on average to charge a vehicle in different countries.
Ireland was the fourth most expensive country to charge an electric vehicle in Europe at an average of 15.08 euros per charge, 12.21 euros more per charge than Ukraine, the cheapest country in Europe.
Germany is the most expensive country in Europe, where an electric vehicle is charged at over 19 euros. The average cost of charging an electric vehicle in Europe is € 10.13.
