Force Motors launched the off-road SUV on September 27th at a starting price of ₹13.59 lakh (former showroom). In its new generation, the Gurkha has been upgraded with design tweaks and technology to compete with Mahindra Thar SUV.
The second generation Force Gurkha SUV now appears more like an adventure lifestyle vehicle with the introduction of multiple conveniences and modern features. The SUV is now bolder with a new front grille. It is flanked by circular bi-LED headlights and LED daytime running lights that sit above the new fog lights. It has 16-inch alloy wheels on the sides, which are placed in the distinctive wheel arches with black panels. It also gets a functional snorkel that helps the Gurkha with a water wading capacity of 700mm. At the rear, Gurkha is getting a new set of taillights and a ladder to the roof rack.
The 2021 Force Gurkha SUV comes with an upgraded BS 6 compliant 2.6 liter diesel engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Force Motor has not yet planned to offer the SUV with an automatic transmission.
Under the hood, the 2021 Force Gurkha comes with a 2.6-liter diesel engine, which also powers the previous generation. It can generate a maximum output of 89 hp and a maximum torque of 250 Nm. The 2021 Gurkha is offered with an AWD option. Force has also optimized the suspension setup with double wishbones and coil springs. It can also crawl up slopes of 35 degrees.
