Sky Sports is set to reclaim the exclusive rights to televise the US Open from 2023 after Amazon Prime failed to extend its broadcast contract with the grand-slam tournament.
The satellite giant is close to making a return to tennis after losing the rights to show matches from the ATP Tour in 2018. Two years earlier, company chiefs had signaled their intention to step away from the sport by suddenly dropping the US Open from its portfolio of live sporting events after 25 years.
It is thought that the rise to prominence of the British teenager Emma Raducanu, who won the US Open last year, has enticed Sky to outbid Amazon for the next set of rights. While the contract is yet to be finalised
