Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Smith became embroiled in an ugly exchange which led to Sky Sports apologizing for homophobic and personal remarks.
The offensive comments again showed the pathetic depths that the boxing press conference can plumb. Smith, 34, was the guilty provocateur who questioned Eubank about his sexuality before tomorrow’s middleweight clash. “Has anyone seen Chris with a girl?” he asked. “He’s 33 and he’s talking about having kids, but you need a woman to have kids. I wonder if he wants to tell us something.”
Smith clearly felt this was funny rather than the sort of moronic behavior that would get him banned in any other sport. “I’m not that type of way, mate,” he added. “I like women.”
