Lucid Air Dream Edition 0-60 mph, 1/4-mile performance is field tested

The Lucid Air Dream Edition is primarily advertised as a luxury car, but the performance figures listed are not to be scoffed at. This was proven recently when the Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance was tested at 0-60 mph and a quarter mile in a drag strip.

At 1,111 horsepower, the Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance has the numbers to rival even some of the scariest cars on the market today, such as the Tesla Model S Plaid, which is listed at 1,020 horsepower from its three electric motors. Interestingly, Lucid was able to match the Air Dream Edition’s 1,111 hp performance with just two engines.

Luckily, drag racing veteran and YouTube’s DragTimes channel host Brooks Weisblat was able to test the Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance’s capabilities. The vehicle was owned by a longtime car enthusiast who currently owns a Tesla Model S Plaid, a Porsche Taycan Turbo S, and several other supercars. In a tour of the vehicle, the Lucid owner highlighted some of the features he likes about the Air, such as the tactile controls, as well as some things he would like improved, such as the software and audio system.

But when it came to the drag strip, the Lucid Air Dream Edition performance didn’t disappoint. With launch mode engaged, the Air attacked the quarter mile without hesitation. Ultimately, the first test of the Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance showed the vehicle to clock a 0-60 mph time of 2.93 seconds and a quarter mile time of 10.21 seconds. The vehicle’s trap speed was also very impressive at 143.37 mph.

With such results, the Lucid Air Dream Edition seems very close to the quarter mile time of the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, which clocks in at 10.48 seconds. However, the Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance’s catch speed is significantly faster than the Taycan Turbo S, as the luxury sedan had a catch speed of 143.37 mph, while the all-electric Porsche finished the quarter mile at 131.8 mph, like the Tests by MotorTrend show .

Interestingly, the Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance showed slightly better 0-60 mph and quarter mile times as it was further tested. In the third test, for example, the all-electric luxury sedan went from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.88 seconds, which is closer to Lucid’s estimated 2.5 seconds. His quarter mile time also improved to 10.04 seconds. However, its trap speed decreased as the vehicle covered the quarter mile while traveling at 142.59 mph.
