Rory McIlroy plays a stroke on the first hole in the final round on Sunday
Rory McIlroy carded a third 66 in a row to finish the WGC-St Jude Invitational 10 under and in a tie for 12th place.
The four-time major winner was five under for his final lap after nine holes, but failed on the 13th.
It left the Northern Irish with a four under par 66 at Memphis.
Irishman Shane Lowry finished 23rd after a 70 with six under, while Mexican Abraham Ancer won a play-off after three players finished with 16 under.
The former Open Champion also posted five birdies and three bogeys on Sunday.
McIlroy’s lap followed a similar pattern as on Saturday with a strong front lap before losing momentum.
The number 12 in the world recorded shots at one, three, four, six and nine to advance to under 11 before the blemish at 13.
Ancer hit the third hole of a play-off with a birdie to beat Masters champions Hideki Matsuyama and Sam Burns.
